Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED
The Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course teaches child-care providers and others to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. The course covers:
- first aid basics, including:
- finding the problem
- stopping bleeding
- bandaging
- relieving choking
- using an epinephrine pen
- child CPR AED
- infant CPR
Options include:
- asthma-care training for child-care providers
- adult CPR AED
The Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course is intended for people who regularly come in contact with infants and children, including:
- child-care/day-care providers
- parents and grandparents
- nannies and babysitters
- teachers and other educators
- anyone else with the responsibility to care for children
Length of the Instructor-led course varies depending on needs and the modules taught, with skills practice and testing by an American Heart Association Instructor during the course.
The self-directed online course varies in length for the cognitive portion (Part 1). Course participants who successfully complete Part 1 receive access to a printable certificate granting them entrance to a skills practice session (Part 2) and skills test (Part 3) with a certified American Heart Association Instructor, which they must pass to qualify for a Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course card. Parts 2 and 3 should be completed in one skills practice and testing session.
