This specialized medical course is structured for pre-hospital TACTICAL EMS medical providers assigned to law enforcement SWAT teams. The mission of this course is to expand the student’s knowledge of emergency medical care within the tactical environment. This course is FOCUSED on the Basic and Advanced Tactical Medical Skill. We train you in the proper settings where the student will be working. This takes time, skilled instructors in their craft, and highly developed lesson plans.
COURSE CONTENT INCLUDES:
• History of SWAT and TEMS
• Integration of TEMS into tactical operations
• Team organization and structure
• Elements of common SWAT missions
• Structure clearing – Stealth and Dynamic
• Chemical agents and Less-lethal options
• Medical considerations of less-lethal munitions
• Medical Operations Pre-plan
• Use of cover and concealment during medical treatment
• Medical considerations for team wellness
• Tactical Airway, Wound ballistics, and hemorrhage control
• Officer-Down medical treatment and rescue techniques
• Basic firearms skills and familiarization of tactical weapons systems
• Medical treatment in adverse conditions (low-light and gas mask)
•Human anatomy review: Incorporates cadaveric dissection review utilizing medical school quality specimens. This review will include the anatomy of the chest and lung, abdominal organs, and vasculature of the abdomen, pelvis, groin and proximal upper/lower extremity.
•Patient assessments.

Course shall integrate currency requirements for advanced medical care and protocols as outlined in the Pararescue Medical Operations Handbook, to include:

•Extended/Critical care considerations.
•Tactical rescue scenarios.

TEMS SWAT Tactical Medic Course takes the skills learned to the next level. This intensive course includes basic & advanced TEMS SWAT Medic training in one course and exposes them to new technology and how to employ this technology within the tactical environment to deliver basic and advanced medical skills. Advanced SWAT medics will be certified Tactical Combat Casualty Care and exposed to Prolonged Field Care and K9 Medicine. The students will utilize their new skills in a multitude of mentally and physically challenging scenarios.
Students should be prepared to complete the Cooper “Single Cut-Point” standard PT Test.
DURATION: 10 DAYS / 100 HOURS at a minimum
TCCC Tier 3 Certification Included:
Tactical Combat Casualty Care Combat Medic/Corpsman (TCCC CMC) curriculum developed by the Joint Trauma System, part of the Defense Health Agency. This course is intended to equip CMCs to provide more advanced prehospital casualty care than was taught in the ASM or CLS courses. Instruction includes the use of advanced medical equipment and knowledge in the management of life-threatening injuries commonly encountered on the battlefield. Conducted in conjunction with 911TACMED, the Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) course introduces evidence-based, life-saving techniques and strategies for providing the best trauma care on the battlefield. NAEMT conducts TCCC courses under the auspices of its PHTLS program, the recognized world leader in prehospital trauma education are fully compliant with the Department of Defense’s Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC) guidelines course is designed for combat EMS/military personnel, including medics, corpsmen, and pararescue personnel deploying in support of combat operations. TCCC course is accredited by the American College of Surgeon, Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS) and recognized by the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) comes with CAPCE Credit.
Pre-requisite:
EMT Certification and above. This course will utilize force on force drills, students must be in good physical condition. Students should show up for class in PT gear -bring clothes to change after. Students failing the physical assessment will receive a certificate of attendance for the portions completed and will be dismissed from the SWAT portion of the course. The PT test is the Cooper “Single Cut-Point” standard: 1.5 mile run in 16:28, 300 meter run in 1:11, 25 push-ups in 1 Minute, 29 sit-ups in 1 minute.
Required Equipment List:
PT Gear – (Running Shoes, Shorts, T-shirt), BDU or other similar tactical uniform, Tactical boots, PT clothing and running shoes, Body armor, Duty belt with Holster, Load bearing vest or web gear, Water Bottle or similar device, Eye protection, Ear protection, Gas mask, Gloves, Helmet, snacks, weather appropriate gear, note taking materials. Issued Trauma bag and/or IFAK (optional) - (We have limited sets of individual gear for use if there is something you do not have, contact us.)
Weapons and Ammunition:
• Certified Peace Officer’s - M4 or Duty issued rifle with 500 rounds and 100 UTM rounds and a sling, Duty issued handgun with 300 rounds and 3 magazines and protective gear
• Firefighters / Medical Personnel – Weapons may be rented, bring 100 UTM rounds and 500 rounds of 5.56 ammunition and 300 rounds of 9mm ammunition – NO RELOADS. Gear may be rented if you do not have any.

• 60 hours TCOLE Credit (Basic SWAT)
• 63 hours CAPCE NAEMT – TCCC- Card (Tier 3 Course)
• 100 hours Tactical Responder Review Course (IBSC TR-C)

• 100 hours Tactical Paramedic Review Course (IBSC TP-C)
Testing on site is available if you purchase that option for the TP-C or TR-C
- allows you to sit before the TR-C or TP-C Exam with the International Board of Specialty Certifications (IBSC) to become board certified if you choose to test later.
